Hilex Poly Celebrates Expanded Recycling of Plastic Bags

On January 7th, 2010, Stan Bikulege, CEO and President Hilex Poly Co., presided over the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the newly expanded Hilex Poly plastic bag recycling facility in North Vernon, IN. This expansion marks a doubling of Hilex Poly’s ability to recover post-consumer plastic bags and film as well as signaling the growing in demand for recycled plastic bags. Last year Hilex Poly recovered more than 10 million pounds of post consumer bags and film at the North Vernon, IN Bag-2-Bag recycling center. This new addition will enable Hilex Poly to recover more than 20 million pounds at the center in 2010.

Local leaders such as Congressman Baron Hill, Mayor Harold "Soup" Campbell and others were on hand to recognize the growth of commerce and green jobs in southern Indiana as both the public and private sector work to grow new industries focused on environmental sustainability.

Stan Bikulege, CEO and President Hilex Poly Co discussed Hilex Poly’s commitment to improving the sustainability of packaging and quality of life through research, recycling and increased use of recycled content while Mayor Harold “Soup” Campbell emceed the event and recognized the part that North Vernon’s citizens have played in the growth recycling and specifically the 700% growth in plastic bag recycling since 2001.


Congressman Baron Hill was the keynote speaker (click here to see a video of his speech)  and commented on the growth of commerce in southern Indiana and the part the environmental leadership plays in both the private and public sectors.
